There are other upsides, such as being able to claim part of your living expenses against tax if you work from home. The downside is that you have no company to pay you during the lean times if you cannot get enough work, and no insurance against losing time to illness or other disruptions. Training opportunities are plentiful because of the constant need for new people within medical transcription. Rarely will you have a need to attend college or to learn through distance learning.
