How long before you should call a company about a background check?

I just interviewed for this job. They liked me and said that if I passed a background check I would get the position. They said they would call me when it was done. It’s been a week and I haven’t heard anything, should I call them back? I don’t have any criminal records, so there isn’t any reason it should not come up ok. Most people say it takes about a week so I want to check in, but I don’t want to sound impatient either. Thanks.

Depending on the day that you interviewed, and if they use a background check company it may be 5-7 business day for all the information to be complete and if they ordered multiple searches they may want to get everything together. Best of Luck
