I am up for employment with Child Protective Services, with the state of Texas and I was wondering if anyone knew how long I could anticipate on waiting for the background check to clear. I don’t have a criminal background or anything.

It can take anywhere from 24 - 72 hours depending upon the employer and the type of background service check performed. In some very rare cases it could be as much as 7-10 business days. Since your employment will deal with children, a background check is usually going to be more extensive and quite thorough, therefore you might expect to wait about a week.

    Hope This Helps!

Usually about a week. Sometimes longer. Since you will be working for the state, you’ll probably go through the TX Dept of Public Safety background check, which would be pretty thorough.
    Good luck!
