TS clearance – how is the background check process regarding spouse and family?

I’m curious about the background check i have to expect (also regarding my children who are 16 and 19 years old and gona move in with us). What parts of my life will be checked and how? Will beeing married to a german makes it more difficult for my futur hushand to keep his clearance? I would be very thankful for serious answers.

I don’t think the fact that you’re German is going to be an issue. They will however check every single aspect of your life. Your credit, your criminal histories and that of your children, they may drug test you and your children, they may even interview you in person. It can be very invasive.

they will check your criminal history
credit history
if there has been charges against your husband…..
they will do a character check on your husband
they will check the authenticity of the marriage
