What does an employer background check consist of?

I have an interview for a secretarial position for a company that will do a background check on me. What kind of info are they looking for? I have a few speeding tickets and an alcohol related incident, and I’m hoping that won’t disqualify me for the job.

The job application will ask if you have ever been CONVICTED of a crime. If you were not convicted, you do not need to disclose.

They may check your credit report and also do a drug screen.

They may also ask your previous employers questions about your performance, but by law, they are only allowed to ask if you are on rehireable status and your dates of employment. They may also ask you for paystubs from your previous employer, so don’t lie about your comp on the app!

    Good Luck!
