What kind of information is availible in a background check?

Kyle of Romany asked:
I am thinking about running a background check on myself… why? I am curious about what kind of information is contained in it… because I want to know what my prospective employers are able to see when they run a background check for pre-employment. I am going to apply for a Gov’t job and want to be able to give them all the info I need to and not leave something out… because my submission will be rejected if I don’t give the whole story and they know it.

They will be able to see where you have worked and how long, also if you quit a job without notice or on bad terms if the employer put that information on your work history. Of course the obvious, anything criminal. I have a family member that works for the Government, they even did a credit check on him. Good luck.
